What should I do next?

Please call to schedule an initial appointment. Once scheduled, please complete the forms located on the Forms page prior to our initial session together or arrive 30 minutes prior to your initial appointment to complete all necessary paperwork in our lobby.

What is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)?

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In the state of Texas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required to have a Master’s Degree in Social Work, complete 3000 hours of clinical supervision, and pass a clinical level exam and is required to continue obtaining specific training every two years.

What is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT)?

A Registered Play Therapist is a mental health professional that completed at least 150 hours of additional play therapy training after their initial licensure. A Registered Play Therapist has had additional supervision regarding using play therapy to help children and is required to continue obtaining play therapy specific training every three years.

How long do appointments usually last?

The first session is 90 minutes to allow for thorough assessment and evaluation of concerns, needs, and support systems.  Play Therapy sessions are 45 minutes in duration.  Individual, family therapy, and parent consultation sessions are 50 minutes, unless additional time is requested and scheduled.

How frequently will we meet?

Typically in the beginning (4-6 weeks) it is preferred that we meet weekly to establish a healthy therapeutic relationship. However, the frequency of ongoing appointments varies depending on your or your child’s needs. We will work together to establish a schedule that works best for you.

Do you offer evening or weekend hours?

Yes, I do offer some evening hours, however I do not have weekend hours available. I will provide you with a note to allow your child’s absence from school to be excused. In addition, we will work together to schedule a time to allow you or your child to miss as little school or work as possible.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

I am happy to reschedule with at least 24 hour (one business day) prior notice. If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hour (one business day) notice or you fail to show up, there will be a full session charge for the missed appointment.

Do you accept insurance?

No, however I am happy to provide you with a receipt that you may file with your insurance for reimbursement. *Please review the “Pros and Cons of Using Insurance” located on the Payment Info page.
